Payments & Insurance

Priscilla accepts cash, checks, and major credit cards for her in-office sessions.

Teletherapy payments are made by credit card through her secure video platform via Stripe.

She doesn’t take insurance, and here’s why:

One may not have considered the numerous benefits of paying for therapy out-of-pocket. These include heightened privacy when addressing delicate matters, sidestepping potential stigma related to mental health diagnoses being documented (something that is particularly relevant to those in the medical profession), more options for session length and treatment duration, and easier access to your therapist.

Using your health insurance out-of-network benefits if you have them:

In Couples Therapy, insurance companies typically do not reimburse for it directly. Instead, the 90847 code is used, which requires that one person identified as the “patient” must have a diagnosis that meets the criteria for medical necessity. The partner is not the client but participates in support of the patient's treatment. If you plan on using your out-of-network benefits, it's important to understand this distinction and how it affects the ownership of the client record.

I value confidentiality and believe that the therapy process should be guided by you, not your insurance company. Therefore, I do not participate directly in any managed care plans. I think that the necessity of therapy should be determined collaboratively between you and me based on your personal progress and needs. Contacting your health insurance company before beginning therapy with questions about your benefits is always a good idea.

Are remote telehealth sessions available?

Yes! Priscilla offers telehealth therapy sessions. The beauty of online therapy is that you can access your session from the comfort of your own space.

Am I the right client for you?

Having a good therapeutic relationship is crucial in our work; not every therapist is the right fit for a client, and vice versa.  For this reason, Priscilla suggests meeting for an initial consultation. This is where you can get to know her and decide if she's a good fit for you. Then, you'll work together to build a relationship that honors your values and brings joy to your life.

Priscilla works with individuals and couples of any gender and orientation. At this time, she does not treat minors.

What should I expect in our sessions together?

Sessions are tailored to fit the needs and goals of the client. Every single person deserves safety, security, and a space where there is no judgment and a person can be understood for who they are. Priscilla effortlessly creates this environment for her clients through her compassionate and non-judgmental approach.

Goals are explored in the first sessions to determine the best therapeutic plan for each client.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. Like most businesses these days, Priscilla requires 48-hour notice if you wish to cancel an appointment or late-cancel/no-show fees will be issued equal to the cost per session.
